Total Solar System Solution
DATE & LOCATION: Headington, Oxford -2008
SPECIFICATION: Vaillant solar hot water system
~3 x VTK 570 evacuated tube collectors
~ auroSTOR 200L unvented solar hot water cylinder
& ecoTEC plus ‘system’ boiler
A semi detached property, with poor insulation also had an inefficient heating and hot water system.
Owned by a professional couple, they were keen to obtain advice and take the
necessary measures to improve things. With a lack of space in key areas, it meant limited
options.
Oxford Solarheat Ltd were able to provide a solution utilising solar thermal , that convinced
the customer of the benefits of such investment.
Loft space solution
With good access and lighting, the insulation now upgraded
with sheep’s wool, preparation was required before any
pipework and equipment could be installed.
A studwork frame was erected for pump station, expansion &
protection vessels, and a platform for the auroSTOR 200 Litre
cylinder.
The equipment ‘banked up’ with this configuration left good
provision for maintenance in the future , as well as utilising
space which benefited the customer.
Complete hot water management is provided with the auroMATIC 560 controller.
Integration with auxiliary heat source (e.g. boiler) is a unique function compared
with other solar control systems.

“Initially sceptical on solar, we are now
glad that we took the advice from
Oxford Solarheat.
The system has reduced our bills
significantly and the hot water controller
is very user friendly.”
